Choco-Berry Ice Cream… for Breakfast

We had a substitute teacher for yoga last night. I was a little disappointed at first, but he was actually really good. Different teaching style, trickier workout, but I was able to keep up and still left feeling relaxed– and then a little sore this morning. The best part was I got to break in my new yoga mat. :D

New page in the top menu!

I finished (kind of) the page inspired by Lauren, so take a look and let me know what you think. It’s still a work in progress, because I’m sure I missed some stuff, but I think it’s a good start. I’ve had a lot of people ask me to help them shop at the grocery store– what to get, what’s not so great, what they need for a week’s worth of food– so I decided to make a guide to the grocery store, aisle by aisle. Keep in mind that different things work for different people (many can eat more saturated fat than I do– and it works well for them), but this is what works best for me. I hope it’s helpful!

Ice cream for breakfast– again.

For breakfast this morning, I had the idea of tweaking a recipe I used previously as a toast topping, lightening it up a bit, and using it as a hot cereal topping (although it would be great on its own, as I found out by continuously licking the spatula).

I pureed 1/2 cup of frozen mixed berries, 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder, and 1 tablespoon chocolate protein powder.

The finished product: Kamut with cottage cheese, vanilla, and cinnamon stirred in, topped with Choco-Berry Ice Cream + a sprinkling of light muesli. The hot kamut cereal made the choco-berry ice cream really melty.

Chocolate-y, filling, satisfying breakfast.

Lunch today was a leftover from yesterday. I’d packed this for dinner ala office, but since I was freed unto the world early, I saved it for lunch today. I wasn’t jazzed about it, but once I ate it my mind quickly changed its tune.

Spicy BBQ chicken with spinach sauteed in a tsp of Garlic Gold (from Whole Foods, it’s olive oil infused with garlic… so good!) and sweet potato fries dipped in a little ketchup.

I had a baby Larabar for dessert. I’m starting to not be so mad that I bought a box of 12 mini Larabars instead of 12 normal sized ones. They’re kind of cute. Kind of.

I’m kind of glad I had breakfast at home, lunch already made, and dinner out tonight. I’m a little on the tired side today, as SOMEONE woke me up last night because they weren’t feeling well…

It’s Friday, so naturally that means I’ll be celebrating via Fro-Yo Friday. And then I’ll be heading out for a fancy dinner at . Take one look at that menu and tell me you’re not intrigued.

Update: If your office is freezing cold, it’s a bad idea to eat frozen yogurt. But I probably should have known that…

Coming up this weekend: A baking adventure using yes, pumpkin (and chocolate too!). Cue the surprised expressions.
